"Arid Intellect" (by Joe DiMino)

No canvas entirely free—
the edges and frame ultimately
what the artist must see;
determined he floats
A-new, one larger,
in space and time—
but the edges and frame
again even more so to deal with
though sublime—

The poet—
no verse entirely free;
for ink fades
and page dusts—
and when the heart
no longer writes
the soul rusts—

the mind alone
has nothing to live for….
