"Basics" (by Joe DiMino)

A sun knew only basic light
Till a world showed him
His colors;
A bird knew only basic flight
Till a sky gave wings
A vision;
A god knew only aloneness
So he dreamed himself
Sons and daughters
To be his basic heirs;
Children learned omnipotence
That they could not
Give back their basic shares….
