"Circle" by Joe DiMino

Nothing moves
In a straight line:
Not the sky
Not air
Nor the current sea—
Contained in a sense
The circle not free

Just eternity….

Life and death
For a moment meet

Unable to join forces
Both diametrically retreat—
Defeated by the other;
The motion backward
Past and present
Become one—
Something a god
Might have consciously done
Or simply
Another flipside
Of omnipotence

Both dark and light
A healthful balance
Of delight
And blight
Depending on the physician
To my taste
More Jung
Than Freud

Therefore beneath
While above
Love best
Should be
Ever expansive
(A dreamy
I think
What the circle
