"Closed for the Day: Gone Flying" by Joe DiMino

Caught a cloud today;
Snagged him
As he floated by—
A bit slower than
The rest…but damn
If I didn’t luck-out!
And got the fluffiest best;

Sure now to be the envy
Of every Floater-chaser
Every Silver-lining-seeker;
And every dreamer—
Wanting to reshape clouds
And the blue clay
Of sky;

Yep, I leaped straight-up—
Like a cat jumps for a bird;

Caught with my claws this
Great flying thing:

Promised to spare
Its life in exchange
For brief, real soar—
No clear reason why
But flying remains
My favorite metaphor—

Closed for the day: gone flying.....
