"Come May" by Joe DiMino

Even the one
Most trusted
At times
Lets us down;
The worship
Of your life
No-longer
Deserving
A crown—
We tell ourselves
To forgive
The Christian
Thing to do—
Though the
Giver of warmth
Light of love
Seems turned,
Love’s back
A cooler blue;
But the heart
Is a seasoned warrior
And not easily subdued,
For often when
Life seems colder
After the frost reviewed
The Changes we find
Not lethal—but opportunity
For love renewed;
The human heart—
Near to a garden—
If attended
And not neglected
(Those less watered
By seed rejected)
But the reaffirming
Of faith,
Recalling the brighter day
When Divine order
Restores with blossoms
Come May
