"Dearest Poetry" (by Joe DiMino)

Ah, Poetry!
Are you my mistress?
Do not tell the wife
Though I suspect
Duplicity here;
She has gone somewhere
And the pencils gone
And the paper gone—
Hearing laughter, moans,
Delightful groans
And though jealous, somehow
All seems rightfully fair;
And if I must share
And if she must share
What better secret kept?
To wink and nod,
For denials spoken
Our dear façade—
Dearest Poetry,
You are like the air…
