"Dreams?" by Joe DiMino
Shut out the light
And see the night-
This is the sight of dreams.
Silent the sound
And hear all around-
This is the music of dreams.
There is a pause
When daylight, weary,
Bows to take a rest
Having done his best illumination,
Whatever is left unanswered
Must await new dawn to address;
And the night thought of
As dark unquestioned
Reveals bewitching power,
Opening we breathe her flower-
But this, by far, no typical bloom,
Our swirl not petal detection-
Her form not contained fully,
Fluid is imagination-
And she sings a lyric-fantasy,
Music not rhythm or tone,
But the mystery that binds us still
When faced
With awesome unknown-
Shut out the light
And see the night-
This is the sight of dreams.
Silent the sound
And hear all around-
This is the music of dreams.
This is the death we live for
.
