"Gushes and Graves" (by Joe DiMino)

Some say that love
Is universal—
A far-out speculation;
Others, more down to earth,
Yet say love comes with us at birth
A DNA attribution;
Some say too little
Some say too much
For the heart tends toward extremes—
The musician with his highs and lows
Crescendos and pianissimos;
The poet with his soulful raves—
Gushes and graves;
Even Christ spit-out the lukewarm
