How do we tell the children?
Look…and remember…
For much of what you see
Will shed its internal light
And be gone—
For we have squandered;

Hear and remember…
The many lovely voices
That will sing no more
For we have squandered;

Breathe and remember…
Before the acrid scent of man
Was willful over God—
For we have squandered;

How do we tell the children?
There will be no Heaven
For the earth we have squandered….
