"I Have Seen...." (by Joe DiMino)
I have seen true affection
In domestic pets
Loyalty we rely on
When human fondness
Deserts us
Leaving behind
Those bitter residues
The accountant in us
Calls regrets
We paw deeper
Splitting hairs
And sucking fretsand then!
(With them the killing: a predictable instinct
For food or survival)
But I have seen
And heard only
Pronounced evil
From men
.
