"I Often Ask" (by Joe DiMino)

I often ask
For whom do I write?
Is it
Myself conscious?
Perhaps
Some cloak of alter-ego
I strive to hull?
Summon into light-of-truth
This kernel of me,
My alchemist of the deep-literary—
A ghost
I raise in spirit, make more transparent,
Conjure by potion of
Pen and paper,
Anagram of incantation
For silent chant
Or public hymnal—

It could be all of these
And no reason at all?

Accept to affirm the life within
Undeniable,
That breath of resurrection
Between myself and God,
The lost Eden
Of artists
Our nuptials by
Extract-of-exorcism….
