"I Want To Sing" (by Joe DiMino)

I want to sing
Brightly—as the many
Feathered vocalists sing;
Sing out loud for dawn!—
So that they, in their liberating boughs
Will pause and take notice,
Hear me in my loftiness
To wonder of such lyric mystery
As to why this mortal would perch
And carry on so?

Sing of the dawn
As only they know…
Open his wingless limbs
And let go—
To mount the air with ease
And choir
As evergreen trees….
