If Thou Art But A Dream
Sometimes I have this fear
Of what will come
Of what may be
If nothing beyond life-
No truth in talk of eternity
How great my sadness,
My loss of joy,
Brought down to earth by weight of fear,
If a single word of prayer
Had not truly
Found Divine Ear...
If Thou art but a dream
May I dream forever-
Not to awaken
Till time is broken
And every doubt of night
Transformed by the light
In this my sleep be true-
Father, when I arise
It is nearer you-
By Your Blessed Grace,
Beyond time,
Beyond mind,
Reformed of infinite space
