"Lord, Spare Me" (by Joe DiMino)

(Lord, spare me any fame
While I’m alive)

My My
How we see the spec
In the eye of everyone else
And not the log in our own:

The philosopher
The psychologist
Above history
Still blaming parents
And governments
For their own absence

Give me a confessed drunk
Openly prostitute
Lost man
Over a cloistered priest
Or poet laureate
Any-day!
