Oh if Christ could have paid
By credit card!--
No plastic in real giving;
Only compassionate
Commitment to the living;
Not a cross for us to share
But a world
Needing loving care--

Oh if Christ could have said, charge it!
Pay later
With some concept greater!
But nothing higher above
Then human hearts
Reborn of Son's love;

What if Christ didn't say
I love you?
But He did!
And never stopped;
Our open accounts
Never dropped;
Contracts with seal
Of Father and Son
To go infinitely on
Resplendently on
Saving for all
To become one…
