"Pure Love, Needs No Conditions" by Joe DiMino

A heart was broken that day,
While another one mended;
A heart came in from the cold
Though another remained
Expended—hearts are like that
You know, so alone while others
So blended—for the sake of another
One’s loss
That some separate will be

I searched for a heart like mine,
Through art according to word—
Captured once in the passing song
Of high a flying bird—
Music, for me, became that way,
Once heard, best released;
Like that lyrical bird taught me
Love needed freedom
If to be
