"Seasoning" (by Joe DiMino)

Once it heals
The body forgives
Though the mind
Holds a maddening grudge

The body soiled
Exits the water clean
But the mind still carries
Its sludge

What say you bitter mind
When the body sweet
Declines as fruit
Falls back to earth
Loose on the fly,
What say you lifetimes
Soured to taste
With this seasoned-death
Will you let the bitter die?
