"Shadow,The Reminder" (by Joe DiMino)

The night envelops,
A silk-like cocoon
Of silence—

Alongside my bed
A dimmed lamp—

It is tradition
On the night-stand
Near the lamp
A pad and pencil,
The poet’s
Code of arms—

The muse slips in
That thief!
That lover!

A-tingle, for the first time
I feel awake this day
After the labor done
And a short nap—
I begin to write…create,
As God I imagine!

My Black Cat, Shadow,
The reminder…
