"Shadows" (by Joe DiMino)

"Shadows"

There are times
I would settle to be simply a shadow-
Someone else taking the walk
And I merely to follow;
No deep definition expected of me--
Just suggestion of silhouette;
Free to hide within myself, unanalyzed-

Shadows--cooler, less to absorb;
Here one moment, gone the next-
And back again,
A mask of clouds,
The Moon in total eclipse,
Darkening the night to recall,
To immerge from shadows,
All that we have forgotten
Of truer light....

"Sometimes I really do feel like little more than a shadow, a composite of myself, reaching deep within to rediscover the many-light from which I have been blinded."
