"Splatters" (by Joe DiMino)

There is a tacit understanding
When writing poetry,
To not deeply
Analyze the meaning—
Satisfied with
The turning outward
Of a gut

Much like the novice painter
Too exact and precise
Losing the greater telling,
No life a story worth reading
Without its splatters
Of spontaneity—
