"The Child Spoke To Me" (by Joe DiMino)

The child spoke to me—
Not with words
But with eyes,
With her hand
Taking hold of mine;
With her pace
Stretching to match my footsteps,
And mine, compressing
For her.

Children are so special—
Age is so special;
Her bright eyes widening,
Bringing everything near;
And mine, more narrow,
Driving all that is good
From myself
And closer to her.
