"The Good Child" by Joe DiMino

To dream—
Not one the impossible!
For we could not dream
Were all not
Possibly so;

Then let us dream

The best of men

And the brightest of worlds

And heaven will know
By reflection
That seeds above
For certain
May downward grow

And man may show
As his image
In the sweet pools
Of waters
Creation is one
With its God—
So allow that God—

In His hands power
Over life and death—
Be one of love
And not hateful war;
Dispel the tears—
Till now seeming
And nurture the earth
As we do the good child;

That which we birth
We will live
To our regret
Or to proudly adore—
