"The Mountain" (by Joe DiMino)

I wanted to write
About the Mountain,
In a large way;
Then thought:
Let the Mountain
Speak of self—
Having more to say…

Knowing best
Of height…
Frost out of season…
At top of earth
Cap nearest to sky—
Who would have
A loftier eye?

And to trust
With secrets Valleys must keep—
Of the lost
In lowly Valleys who sleep,
In the shade of Willows
Weeping for light,
Kept from sight,
The Sun,
With judgement of Day—
Till a new world
Of night,
For those that stray—

No—I could never could write well,
A story,
Only Mountain is yet to tell…
