Important to love
One’s self
Though not in excess;

Love can become possession…
Leading to selfishness
And disrespect for the rights
And liberties of others—

The artist feels more than
He or she reasons;

Sees shades and colors
Where a simple yes or no,
Right or wrong
Decision is called for—

The artist is no cop
By nature…

No politician
By temperament…

No warrior
By inclination…

Just the necessary soul…
