The Proud Old Eagle(by Joe DiMino)
The Proud Old Eagle
Clipped by years
Could not soar
The mammoth sky
Stayed to the tree-tops
Dove less far;
His game smaller,
A rabbit or rat
To get by
Speaking of, Golden, Senior years:
With climbing a struggle
And the falling quite hard
Prey of hospitals
And politicians
Blood suckers and vultures
Of the two-legged kind
