"The Subject of Walls" (by Joe DiMino)

There is little I can say
That you have not already heard
For one hears only
The extent of his or her experience
A deaf ear to all the rest

So words are soundless
No matter how loudly spoken
To the cone of an ear turned inward
Listening to echoes

Hearing then often, little more than,
The reverberation of walls
