Mary loved her monster,
And Poe, his raven’s dark sheen;
And Stoker had this thing for blood—
And all good children not so good
When it comes to Halloween;
“Trick-or-Treat!” Extortionists shout,
With loaded pockets, eggs to pelt—
So the candy is given
An extra handful
From the dentist’s wife,
Thinking less of health
And more of wealth—
