"When Love Walked In" (by Joe DiMino)

When love walked in
I walked away
Though wishing
To believe,
Love had walked
Back into my life
This time not
To leave;
But the heart
Is a deep achier
Often with depth
Beyond reason-
And when love
Walked back in
I backed away
Wanting nothing to do
With season;

Love walked in
This time
I would not listen
Covering my ears
With mittens-
Though a young man yet
I felt my heart
Cold beyond the years,
Love already having
Taken from me
All I would give
In tears-
I walked away
But not alone

Carrying all my fears
