"Zenith" by Joe DiMino

The sun came up
an intense shiner—
I thought, such a fine smack
of light; having left on the dark
more than a few
of his own blows, the stars
for many other
making their day.

I think
as the speed of light

having moved through
drifts of yesterday’s dark;

and with the zenith above me

no meridian
I fear cross
