"Politics" by Joe DiMino

Take the politics
Out of life
And what
Do you have?—Love!
Take the love
Out of life
And all is Politics,
Even love;

Weights and measures
Determining all pleasures;

Size and scope
Governing all hope;

And those little miracles
That lived in the heart,
Took-up a small place
Yet played the greatest part—
Like vows with rings
Puppy dogs on strings
Children leading them
Now theater
Of the state.
